Deacon Willie Earl Olds was born April 7, 1952 to the late Mr. Willie and Mrs. Janie Olds.
He confessed Christ at an early age and later united with the 23rd Street Baptist Church, Ensley under the leadership of the late Dr. C. J. McNear. He served with the Usher’s Ministry, the Male Chorus and was one of the bus drivers. His dedication to the church allowed him the privilege to become an ordained deacon.
He was educated in the Bessemer Public School System, served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era, attended Bessemer Technical College and became a skilled Mechanic.
As his health began to fail, he was placed in the Hanceville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center contracted under the VA Community Care Program until December 3, 2025 when GOD called him home at the age of 73.
Others including his parents that preceded him in death were: his son, Willie and brothers, Ernest, Wilbur, George and Dennis.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a wife, Bernita H. Olds; Childern: Shon (Alexis), Cornelius, Kameisha (Jumel) and Crystal; Grandchildren: Alexianna, Gabrielle, Joshua, Camila, Jamila, Crystal, Timothy, Emmanuel, Josiah and Rosetta; Great-Grandchild: Kaitlyn; Siblings: Joe Frank-TN, Louis (Carol)-TX, Dave-OH, Robert, Greg, Pat (Henry) and Kathy - AL and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
