For everything there is a time and a season. Ecclesiastes 3:18
Wanda Louise (Cade) Tanniehill earthly’s journey started July 5, 1954. On October 6, 2020, it was decided Wanda had completed all of the tasks intended for her on earth. Forever the obedient servant, she answered heaven’s call to bloom in God’s Garden. In her 66 years Wanda daily exemplified she was a virtuous woman, therefore more valuable than jewels. She was a native of Birmingham, Alabama and resided in Mulga, Edgewater and Forestdale most of her life.
Wanda was predeceased by her mother Willie Lillian Cade, her father Lewis Cade and 6 siblings. There are two surviving sisters that were devoted to her: Tawana Williams (Carl) and Agnes Cade.
She attended West Jefferson schools. She was a devoted and faithful member of Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church. Wanda taught not just by words but also by her actions. Naturally, it was the Youth Department she selected to benefited directly from her leadership. She remained active in the church even when she changed residence and work prevented her attending services.
She retired as a Retail Worker but continued to nurture and take virtuous care of her family, friends and everyone she met. She was not one to be idle. Wanda had the sweetest smile and a generous heart. To know her .....was to love her due to her kind personality, laughter, wit and wisdom. Wanda knew where her treasures lay. She was not interested in fool’s gold, devices or accumulating useless items. Her heart was pure and she preferred the simple things in life and the none replaceable gifts of quality time with her family. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by her grandchildren, she treasured each of them for their unique traits and talents. There were no other topics that sparked her funny conversations like her talking about “her babies”. She was so excited about the birth of her great-great-grandchild and continuing her tradition of spoiling another generation with her love, devotion and attention.
Wanda’s nurturing spirit prepared her to excel in caring for Collice Kennedy, Jr. She faced the initial many obstacles he presented to her as his first caretaker with humor, no matter his absolute resolve to send her home. In a few short years the joy they brought to each other was amazing. Needless to say, she will not be replaceable. The two of them created a bond like family.
Wanda is survived by an extensive family. Including her daughter Lawanda Tanniehill and her children, Ja Juan and Mythais Tanniehill. However, it’s the home and family of one of her grandaughter feeling her absence daily and is forever changed by her transition. She lived with Ginnetta and Juan Nation. She was a devoted, loving, supportive great-grandmother to their children: Nakeylin Smith, Parnieja Smith (Johnthan), Ginneiya Smith (Montavius), Li’Juan Nation,Juan Miguel Nation, and Wanda’s shadow A’lexis Nation. Karen Head and Kennett Jasper (Reggie) are her other two devoted and loving granddaughters, as well as their children: Mashawna Smith, Lauren Smith, and Lamont Lewis enriched Wanda’s life and benefited from her in their lives.
