Versie Beatrice Matthews

Versie Beatrice Matthews, affectionately known as ‘Bea’ was born on April 2, 1950 to the late Will and Mellie Matthews in Birmingham, Alabama. She confessed Christ and was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend W. B. Bradley. Versie was one of a kind with a very sweet personality and loving heart. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She devoted her life to her family and was eager to help others. Versie was preceded in death by her Mother and Father; sisters Betty Kimble and Wilma Walker; and her brothers Charles Matthews and Webster Matthews Versie departed this life on Tuesday, October 6, 2020. She leaves to cherish her loving memories: sisters Mary Daniel and Curtis (Bernard) Hill of Birmingham; brothers Willie (Gwendolyn) Matthews of Birmingham and Vernon (Annie Jean) Matthews of Atlanta, Georgia; a brother-in-law Henry Walker of Birmingham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and close friends
