Samuel was born January 5, 1953 to the late Abraham and Hattie Melton Pye. Sam attended McCaw Elementary School and Western Olin High School (Class of 1971). He also attended Southern Junior College of Business. Sam worked at Church & Stagg Office Supply, Corporate Express Office Supply, Honda of Alabama, and most recently UAB Nutrition Services. Sam served in the US Army for two years, during the Vietnam era, receiving an Honorable Discharge. Sam had a wealth of knowledge, always willing to advise and give advice and conversations unlimited. He knew everybody, met no strangers.
Sam was preceded in death by: his sisters, Annie Pearl, Maude and Naomi; and brother, Willie Pye.
He leaves to cherish his life of memories: his devoted wife, Ruth; daughter, Kimberly; stepson, Darrin; grandkids, Corey, Erik, and Kaila; great grandson, Landen; sisters, Deloris (Nathaniel) Adams and Emma Willis; four sister in-laws, Fannie Robinson, Teresa (Jerome) Skinner, Loretta (Robert) Holifield, and JoAnn (James) Wilson; one brother in-law, Charles (Ethel) Gill; devoted nephew, Melvin Pye; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. More friends than any one person can have.
