Roosevelt Smith was born on December 22, 1934 to the late Daniel Smith Sr. and Rosie(Matthews) Smith in Birmingham, Alabama. Roosevelt accepted Christ at an early age. He departed this life on May 1, 2024, proceeded in death by his son Roosevelt Smith Jr. and two sisters Essie Mae, Claudette And three brothers Daniel Jr., John Louis,, and Charles (Bro Bill). Roosevelt was educated in the Birmingham school system and graduated from Parker high school. After high school, he enlisted and served in the U.S. Army. Roosevelt then met his first wife, Mattie (Banks) Smith who proceeded him in death. Roosevelt later married Zeacosia (Foy) Smith who proceeded him in death also. Roosevelt worked at the Children’s Hospital where he retired after 30 + years. Roosevelt was a family man and loved family gatherings. He was the master chef on the grill. He loved watching football, fishing and traveling.
He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Brenda (Wayne) Bussey of Cleveland, Ohio and , Gregory (Rosie) Smith, Paula (Eddie) Davidson, Anthony (Deanna) Williams. and Royevette Williams. One sister Anita Rice and one brother Franklin Smith, all of Birmingham, Alabama. He also leaves 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and relatives and friends
