Rodger Burr, II Obituary

Rodger Burr II was born July 16, 1979 to Rodger Burr I and Viola Tabb in Birmingham, Alabama.  He confessed Christ at an early age and united with Bethel A.M.E Church, Ensley, under the leadership of the late Reverend Ronald Nored, Sr.  He rededicated his life and joined The Movement Fellowship Church under the leadership of Pastor Kris Erskine.

He attended P.D. Jackson-Olin High School and later attended Lawson State Community College, where he obtained his Associate Degree in Barbering.  Although he enjoyed cutting hair, his true passion was driving trucks.  He obtained his CDL license and began driving for various companies throughout the Southeast.

When he was not driving trucks, he mentored through coaching youth in the Pratt City community.  He touched many while coaching and was passionate about teaching players the game of football the right way.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Lee Burr and Mr. and Mrs. Allen Faulk Sr.

He leaves to cherish and celebrate his life: his greatest love of all, his daughter, Ci’Riya Denise Burr Woods; his parents, Viola (Charles) Tabb of Warrior, Alabama and Rodger Burr I of Birmingham, Alabama; step – grandmother, Marveline Faulk of Summerville, AL; one brother, Donald Stoves Jr., of Birmingham, Alabama; two sisters, Tamika L. Burr of Vienna, Georgia;  one step-brother, Vidal (L-Tanya) Tabb; two step-sisters, LaShaun Tabb and LaShunta Tabb all of Bessemer, AL; two nephews, Courtney Brown of Athens, Alabama and Derrick Houston Jr., of Birmingham, Alabama;  four nieces, Jasmine (Kevin) Thompson of Hoover, Alabama, Jimmika Crenshaw of Birmingham, Alabama, Grace Stoves of Birmingham, AL and Kristan Cook of Birmingham, Alabama; one great nephew and one great niece; the mother of his child, Cedbrina Woods of Birmingham, AL; seven aunts, five uncles and a host of cousins and friends; his mentors whom he spent much time with, inspired him to strengthen his relationship with Christ, Minister Kris Erskine and Mrs. Loretta Erskine, affectionately known to him as “Lady E.”
