Mr. Ricky Thigpen was born September 1, 1953 to the late Robert and Gladys Thigpen. He attended the Birmingham City School System.
Ricky fondly known as “JD” was a hardworking man who spent his life doing odd jobs. He was always willing to lend a hand and took pride in helping others. He had a unique way of connecting with people-whether it was through a quick wit, a sharp business mind, or his genuine, if sometimes tough-love, outlook on life.
He was a man of resilience and independence, navigating life with a bold spirit and determination. Known for his unique approach to life, Ricky earned respect for his strength, loyalty, and his ability to stay true to himself. His journey though challenging at times, left a lasting impact on those who knew him and he will be remembered for his humor and his unwavering commitment to living life on his own terms.
Ricky shared that he was recently baptized and had made peace with God. He was assured that God had forgiven him and that he had forgiven himself.
Ricky transitioned peacefully to eternal rest on Sunday May 4, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.
Ricky leaves to cherish his memory: brothers: Jesse (Ora), Anthony (Shelia); sisters: Sandra, Gloria (Nathaniel), Cheryl and Glenda; a supportive nephew Demetrius; and a host of other family members and dedicated friends.
