Rebecca Ann Baylor was born on August 24, 1952 to Jessie and Henrietta Baylor.
She was the 6th child of 9 siblings and the eldest daughter. She attended and graduated from Western-Olin High School where she still holds several state records in Track and Field.
On February 14, 1971, she entered into Holy Matrimony with the love of her life, Oliver Nance Jr. Later that year they welcomed their 1st bundle of joy, a son they named Micheal Alexander Nance. In 1980, they welcomed their second bundle of joy, another son named Oliver Terrell Nance. Even though they separated, they remained very close friends - even until his death in December 2023.
Rebecca, or Beck as she was known to close family and friends, was known in her earlier years for her blonde "red" hair. As she got older, she gave herself to the Lord Jesus Christ, and looked to spread the Word of God at every opportunity.
She was known as an avid helper of the elderly in her neighborhood. She was constantly seen cutting the grass for her elderly neighbors and always looking to lend a helping hand.
On January 4, 2025, Beck entered into eternal rest.
She leaves a legacy of love behind: Eldest Son, Rev. Micheal A. Nance, Pastor of the Greater Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, Oakland, CA; son, Oliver Terrell Nance, Birmingham, Alabama; Grandchildren , Jasminn Violet Lastrella, Kendell King, Michah Elijah Nance, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
She is proceeded in death by: her Mother, Henrietta Baylor; Father, Jessie Baylor; Brothers, Robert, Willie, John Arthur, Lawrence Mack, and Melvin.
She was a blessing to those who were blessed to know her and forever will she be missed.
“My son, keep your father’s commandment, and forsake not your mother’s teaching.” [Proverbs 6:20]
