Omey Lee Hardaway was born August 12, 1917, in Montgomery County to Caesar and Vinnie (Patterson) Hardaway. She moved with her parents at an early age to Jefferson County and made it her home for the rest of her life.
Omey Lee Hardaway was educated in the Jefferson County School System.
She was employed as a Presser for over 25 years at Baker’s Cleaners. She retired in 1979 from the Jefferson County Ketona Nursing Home after many years of service. She confessed her faith in Christ and was baptized into the Christian family at an early age. She spent her early years at Cedar Grove AME under Pastor Flood, Lily Baptist and later she united with New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as Chaplin of the Missionary Society for several years until her health began to fail.
Omey Lee Hardaway spent her last few years as a residence of the North-Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, LCC.
She leaves behind a ton of quotes and mother wit for which she will be forever remembered.
Omen Lee Hardaway was preceded in death, by her parents, her two brothers Samuel Hardaway and Jimmy Hardaway, two sons Eugene Ozell Johnson, and Leon Black, One daughter Virgie Johnson and one granddaughter Sheila Ann Black.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a loving son Caesar Black, two loving daughters; Nellye Ruth Leonard of Inglewood, CA and Betty Louise Woods of Birmingham, AL. A host of Grandchildren, a host Great Grandchildren, several Great Great Grandchildren and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Relatives and Friends.
