Ola Davis Obituary

Mrs. Ola Mae Mack Davis, the daughter of the late William Luke Frost and the late Annie Frost Cook was born October 20, 1936, in Greenville, Alabama, Butler County. She was a blessing from God and brought much joy and laughter to the family.

She invited Christ into her life at an early age thus extending into her adult life many friends and coworkers that she adopted as family. She was fondly known AKA as “Cricket”. She attended AH Parker High School class of 1954 and immediately after graduation, she was married to the late Leroy Mack for 26 years; to this union four children were born.

Ola Mae later married Walter Davis, who supported, loved and cherished her for over 25 years.

Ola Mae chose to stay in Birmingham to raise a family. She continued her education at Glenn School of Nursing and established her career as a health care provider. She worked as a nurse for over 40 years at UAB Hospital, Kirkland Clinic and Medical Center East Orthopedics under Dr. Victoria Masear. She retired from nursing in 2003, but never from caregiving.

Ola’s true innate humanitarian traits were recognized by many. She had a genuine love for people. She was a diligent care giver to her family particularly her grandchildren.

She would do whatever she could to lend a helping hand. Ola was truly a proverbial woman. Her life’s motto was “If I can help somebody as I pass along then my living shall not be in vain.”

Her infectious smile and radiant personality were contagious to all who came in contact with her. Cricket was an excellent cook and passed her culinary skills to her children.  She enjoyed preparing good ole “soul food” meals for her family and friends. She also loved to shop and travel with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter Davis; brothers, Jimmy Lee Frost, J. C. Frost; her sisters, Mary Louise Mackey, Lillie Mae Grant; her daughter, Kimetta Mack Freeney; and son-in-law, Randy L. Freeney. She leaves to cherish her memories and embrace her rich legacy of love and caring, her loving daughters, Michelle Ramsey (Melvin), Cheryl Preston (Kalvin), devoted son Carleton (Edwyna), 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 sisters-n law, 2 brothers-n-law, her special sisters-in-love Ruth, Johnnie Mae, Bennie Mae, and Verde; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
