Marilynn was born on September 27, 1956 in Selma, Alabama to the union of Booker T. Ephraim and Myrtle Gildersleeve-Ephraim. She was an only child. She attended high school in Selma, Alabama, and thereafter went on to attend Howard University in Washington, D.C. Marilynn then joined the United States Army Reserves. She confessed to Jesus Christ at an early age.
In 1974, Marilynn Ephraim and Robert Hobdy, Sr., were married. To this union, three children were born: Shahrazad Hobdy-Johnson (Terrence Johnson), Tamala “Tammy” Hobdy-Guyton (Jimmy Guyton), and Robert Hobdy, Jr.; eight grandchildren, Charnae Hobdy-Cady (Earnest Cady), Takiera Hobdy, Roidarius Hobdy, Cameron Hobdy, Teflon Hobdy, Anaya Hobdy, Jamya Guyton, Isaiah Hobdy; one soon-to-be-born granddaughter, Naomi Elaine Hobdy; four great-grandchildren, Kemari Hobdy, Zoriah Collier, Me’Siah Odom, and Thorell Martin; and three step-grandchildren. Marilynn was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Birmingham, Alabama.
Marilynn was preceded in death by her father and mother. She leaves to cherish her memories her two daughters, one son, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, relatives, friends, and family.
