Lula Mae Billingsley was born December 13, 1952 to the late Hiawatha Banks and Willie Lee Banks, Sr.. She confessed Christ at an early age and joined St. Luke Baptist Church. She departed this life on April 11, 2022. Her daughter Marcia Williams preceded her in death January 28, 2007. Lula graduated from Alden High School in 1970 and studied at Miles College and University of Alabama at Birmingham. Also, attended Barbizon Modeling School and became involved in modeling. As an accomplished professional writer, was quite expressive and a deep thinker which is where she was able to utilize the wealth of skills in which she possessed.
Lula is survived by her husband, Joseph Billingsley; daughters, Cheryl Long (Tony), Huntsville, Alabama; Charlina Stewart (John), Huntsville, Alabama; Taylor Billingsley (Michael), Huntsville, Alabama; sons, Mark Robinson, Huntsville, Alabama; Alexander Billingsley, Huntsville, Alabama; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; sisters, Linda Smith (Gerald), Cordova, TN; Yolanda Banks (Bruce) Birmingham, Alabama; brothers, Willie Lee Banks, Jr.(Debra), Graysville, Alabama; Michael Ray Banks, (Denise), Birmingham, Alabama; Eric Banks, Marietta, Georgia; 2 aunts Bernice and Arlene, Atlanta, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Lula was kind, compassionate and loved her family. She was an excellent mother and a good big sister that stressed the importance of family ties. The fond memories that have been left behind will always remain timeless in our hearts.
