Louis Carter Rodgers, one of God’s favorite sons, was quietly called from labor to rest on January 12, 2022. He was 96 years old. Today he is peacefully at rest.
Louis was born April 17, 1925, in Tyler, located in Dallas County, Alabama, to Willie B. Rodgers and Minervia Miller, the first of two boys. Louis and his brother, William, grew up in a loving and spiritually centered home. At a very early age, Louis was taught that the love for God and family was central in accordance with how he was to live his life. When his family moved to Birmingham, AL he joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. J. C. Cunningham. Louis was a faithful servant who never wavered from his support of his church membership.
Louis attended Birmingham City Public Schools, where he graduated from Lincoln Elementary and A.H. Parker High School. He served in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge in January 1946. He also fought in WWII. Louis received his B.S. from Miles College where he also became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, Eta Epsilon chapter in 1949. Louis was a life member of the Alpha Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated, where he received many awards and recognitions and served for 73 years.
