Linda Gail Fomby was born on March 10, 1951 to the Late Dollis and Hertlene Webster Fomby in Bessemer, Alabama. She was the eldest of the four children. She attended Sunday School and Church at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the Late J.R. Hicks.
Linda Fomby attended Sandusky Elementary School. She graduated from Western-Olin High School, Jefferson State Junior College and Livingston University. Linda graduated with honors from high school and the colleges she attended. She was employed by Lorch Jewelers, Booker T. Washington Insurance Company, Retail Grocery Inventory Services (RGIS), Bellsouth and Accenture as a Computer Programmer until her retirement.
Linda was a kind and loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Devotedly, she cared for her late mother. She was a tutor for her nieces and nephews. She was a quiet and meek individual who loved people (especially children), football, puzzles, and board games. She also had a love for photography.
Linda departed this life on Thursday, August 27, 2020. She was preceded in death by her father, mother and brother. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sisters, Jacqueline Fomby of Carrollton Georgia, and Debra Fomby McClain (Josephus) of Birmingham, Alabama; nephews: Artwone C. Fomby of Argo, Alabama, Dajuan Rashard Fomby, Vincent McClain of Birmingham, Alabama; nieces: Tamell Fomby (Antonio), Aquanett S. Mitchell (Andrew), Aja McClain, and V’Onna McClain of Birmingham, Alabama; aunts, Mrs. Corine Tillman and Mrs. Lee Operia Sledge (Earnest) of Boligee, Alabama; two grandnephews: Artwone C. Fomby II and Anderson J. Mitchell; four grandnieces: Arjarnique Fomby, Arialle Fomby, Gabrielle Miles and Bra’Kiya Rice and a host of relatives and friends.
