Leonard Wayne Dixie, affectionately known as “Lil Wayne,” was born on October 17, 1956, to the late William and Minnie Dixie in Birmingham, Alabama.
Leonard was grounded in the Christian faith as a young boy. He was a member of First Baptist Church Woodlawn, where he was an active participant in the Sunday School and Baptist Training Union of the Young People’s Division.
He received his education through the Birmingham School System. After completing his education, he worked in the service industry as a cook, where he dedicated himself to his craft.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Minnie Dixie; two sisters, Bernice Dixie and Vernetta Dixie; and one brother, William Foster Dixie.
He leaves to cherish his memory six sisters: Marsha Cobbs, Zeprima Ervin, Gwendolyn Dixie (Adolphus), Eleanor Proctor (Lawrence), all of Birmingham, Alabama; Sylestine Garner of Wixom, Michigan; Sharon Jones of Douglas, Georgia; two brothers, Jeffery Dixie and Lawrence Dixie of Birmingham, Alabama; a special nephew, Darrin Dixie; and a loving circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Leonard will be dearly missed, but he will forever live on in our hearts.
