Mrs Juanita Thompson, or Mrs. I.E. as she was so affectionately known was one of six children born to the late Arthur and Rosie Lee Russell in Bessie, Alabama on March 30, 1935.
Mrs. I.E. accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Ensley, Alabama and went on to become a member of 22nd Street Baptist Church of Birmingham, Alabama until she was no longer able to fellowship due to her hearing loss.
She married her first husband at an early age, and that union blessed her with three sons. She married her second husband in the mid fifties, and remained married to him until the Lord called him home. They had two sons and two daughters together.
Any one that knew our mom, knew that she was a hard worker and loved her children deeply, our mom fought her battles with the Lord on her side. There was nothing our mom wouldn't do for us if it was in her power to do so.
And she loved her grand and great grandchildren even deeper. She cooked and cleaned up until the very end, until the Good Lord laid her down, and even then she wanted to try and cook and see that her boys were okay.
Our Mother was kind and sweet to everyone she met, she had a sweet and loving spirit, she never turned anyone away if it was in her power to help.
She retired from Birmingham Stove and Range after 20-years and after that she enjoyed sitting on her front porch waving at people she knew and those she didn't know.
Preceded her in death: her husband, Edward Thompson Jr., Son, Glenward Thompson, Father, Arthur Russell, Mother, Rosie Russell, two brothers, Robert Russell, Arthur Russell Jr. Two Sisters, Ethel Russell, Dorothy Battle.
She leaves to mourn her: four sons, Carlton (Jody) Russell, Howard Russell (special friend Miami Clay), Wilford Moore Jr, Jimmy Lee Thompson. Two daughters, Mary Helen Thompson, Thelma Thompson. One sister, Louise Taylor
Eight grandchildren, a host great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
