Josephine Marshall McCord was born July 31, 1939 to the late Mitchell and Ocie Miller Marshall in Montgomery, Alabama.
The family later moved to Birmingham, Alabama. There she attended Powderly Elementary and graduated from Wenonah High School in 1957. She accepted Christ at an early age and joined Rising Star A.M.E. Zion Church but, would later join Greater New Antioch Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and served for the last 30 years.
Josephine was joined in Holy matrimony to Frank K. McCord in 1961. To their union four children were born.
She was a great mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a dedicated and very hard worker. She worked most of her life as a seamstress at various alteration shops and serving close to 20 years at Baldone’s Tailoring until her retirement.
Josephine departed this earthly life on Friday, October 13, 2022 at her home in Birmingham, Alabama. Her husband, Frank K. McCord, son, Cedric McCord, her parents, her brother, Richard Miller and sister, Lula Mae Rowell preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Boris A. McCord, Vincent L. McCord, Edgar K. McCord (Catryna); a special grand-daughter, Aleshia McCord Greene (Jayson); her sister, Cellestine Burns; Ten grandchildren: Freda Denise (Deceased), Rico, William, Boris (Jay), Keyaira, Jasmine, Tyson, Maya and Etana; Nine great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will truly miss her.
