Jimmy Gaines, Jr.

Mr. Jimmy Gaines Jr. was born on January 7, 1961, to the late Jimmy and Ogretta Gaines Sr. He started his education in the Birmingham City Schools attending Council Elementary and a proud graduate of the 1979 class at Jackson-Olin High School. He continued his education at Bessemer State Community College in welding.

Jimmy worked as a welder in Alabama, Texas, and Louisiana.

 On November 28, 2023, he departed this life at Coosa Valley Nursing Home. Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents Jimmy and Ogretta Gaines along with one brother Nickey Gaines.

Jimmy's memories will always be cherished by: his brothers Gregory (Tiffany) Gaines and James (Jana) Melton: and his sisters Vanessa Johnson, Cheryl (Mike) Gaines, and Chandra Gaines all of Birmingham, Alabama. Jimmy didn’t have any children of his own but loved his nieces and nephews like they were his own: nieces Veronica (Derry) Cole, Brianna Cole, Rhonda and Ciara Gaines, Lakiesha Hicks; nephews Ladarius and Demetrius Gaines, Cameren Gaines, Jeremiah Cole, ShaMorris and ShaMorian Mcfarland, James, Kevin, and Courtney Melton all of Birmingham, Alabama, and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.
