Jerry Lewis Young

Mr. Jerry Young was born February 7, 1953 to the late   Bonnie Pearl Sanders.  At an early age he joined the Siloam Baptist Church in Snow Hill, AL.  He later joined the New Rising Star Baptist Church Birmingham, AL under the leadership of Rev. Leslie Valrie. 

Jerry attended Snow Hill Institute High School in Snow Hill, AL.

He began employment at APAC Construction in 1972 and retired as a Supervisor after 44 years of service.

Jerry was preceded in death by: his mother, Bonnie Pearl Sanders;  his sisters, Sheron Ann Young and Elvira Sanders Boulware; his son, James Edward Rodgers;  and his sisters-in-law, Flora Sanders.  He departed this life on Thursday, April, 24, 2025 at UAB Hospital, Birmingham, AL.

Jerry leaves to cherish his loving memory: his wife, Mildred Heard Young; his children, Percy Young, Deborah Gaines, Jerry “Jamel” Young (Elrica Young), Antoinette Floyd (Carl), and Tavares Heard; four brothers, Arthur Young, Lewis Sanders Jr (Angela), Jerome Sanders and Jeffery Sanders; two sisters, Bertha Dean (Carter) and Valerie Stirtmire (Frederick); and a host of 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.
