James was born in Pineapple, Al on August 6, 1947 to the late Rev. Willie and Matcilla Lett. At an early age, James moved to Gadsden, Al where he along with his family united with Fire Baptize Holiness Church Of God.
James graduated high school in Crestview, Florida and attended college at Tennessee State.
James had 4 brothers and 5 sisters that preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a caring friend, Gloria McConico, Birmingham Al; one sister, Rella (Ret. SGM Curtis) Webster, Enterprise Al; sister-in-law, Sallie Lett, Gadsden Al. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
