Gladys Russell was born February 14, 1942 to the late Clinton Russell and Mattie Leonard. She was reared by her grandparents Frank and Evelyn Leonard. Gladys confessed Christ at an early age. She was a devout member at First United Methodist in Washington D.C. and then at Bethel AME in Birmingham, AL where she served on the stewardess board.
She received her early education from Council Elementary School and graduated with honors from Western Olin High School. She attended George Washington University in Washington, D.C. Gladys worked as a grant administrator to assist gifted deaf and blind children attend prestigious schools around the world.
Blessed with a help meet, Gladys was united in Holy Matrimony with the late Theopris “Plute” Webb in 1965 and moved to Washington D.C. where they lived for over 25 years before returning to Alabama.
Her voyage home to heaven was preceded by her parents Clinton Russell and Mattie Leonard, her husband Theopris Webb, and her son Darrell Wade. Gladys began her heavenly journey on August 14, 2020. To host her homegoing and celebrate her life are her son Terrence Lee Russell, Sr; 2 daughters Arnita Russell (Tyrone); Stephanie Webb and her brother Andrew Davis (Celita). The celebrating grandchildren are Terrence Lee Russell, Jr. (Gloria); Terrica Moore (Jimmie); Tonika Reid (Tony); Cameron Webb, Zion Webb, Asian Hardy, Ron Donyell Russell, Douglas Russell, Daryl Russell, Tafaris Russell, Jacoby Dumas, Justin Dumas, and Jeremiah Wade. She has 24 Great-grand children and host of dedicated family and friends.
