Ewoodia S. Ruffin was born November 2nd, 1951, to the late Ruby Scruggs in Birmingham, AL. Ewoodia made her transition on the 26th of September, her soul will continue living on through her adoring family and friends. Ewoodia was a caring and lovable woman, known as the life of the party – she loved to dance. Ewoodia lived her life to the fullest and always kept a smile on her face despite her troubles.
Throughout Ewoodia’s lifetime she devoted herself to Christ and the people around her. Ewoodia surrendered her life to Christ at an early age as a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a faithful Christian for her entire life.
Ewoodia enjoyed caring for the Ensley community, she was a missionary of the church, and volunteered for meals on wheels as needed.
Ewoodia began working in the environmental services field in the healthcare industry and ended as an independent sitter continuing to assist the disable and elderly.
In 1971, Ewoodia married the love her life, the late Leon Ruffin whom she reunites with in death.
Ewoodia also proceeds in death, Ruby Scruggs (Mother), Lovell Scruggs (Brother) and Austin Payton (Son-in-law).
Ewoodia is survived by her five beautiful daughters: Sonchetta (Robert Jenkins), Kenisha (Clifford Phillips), Tawanda (Rodney Harris), Latessia (Dondreal Whitted) and Mariah Payton; five adorable grandchildren: Shonte’, Laila, Skyla, Carleah and Messiah; great grands: Sianni and Jadlin. Her siblings: Madean Davis, Henry Scruggs (Jacqueline), Marie Upshaw, Obediah Scruggs (Frances), Arnold Scruggs, and Evelyn Miles; One sister -in- law, three brother -in- laws, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
