Eddie “Lewis” Franklin McHoward was born on October 7, 1944, in Birmingham, AL, to the late Ceasar McHoward and Ella Mae Presswood McHoward.
He confessed to Christ at an early age while attending Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Ensley, becoming a very active Deacon and member of the male chorus. He is a member of the 1962 graduating class of Western/Jackson Olin High School. Eddie is also a veteran of the United States Army, serving honorably and achieving the rank of Sergeant in the 3rd U.S. Infantry, traditionally known as “The Old Guard” during the Presidency of John F. Kennedy, Jr. For his service, he earned the Good Conduct Medal. After serving three years in the U.S. Army, he returned to Birmingham, AL, and was employed with American Cast Iron Pipe Company (ACIPCO) for 21-years. Aside from being a devoted dad to his daughters and sons, Eddie’s greatest devotion was helping his family, friends, and fellow church members in any way possible.
