Douglas Eugene Smith-Mack, was born September 2, 1959, to James and Thelma Smith in Jefferson County
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Peace Baptist Church by Rev. J.H. Henry.
Douglas attended McCaw Elementary School and Ensley High School. Upon completing high school, Douglas enlisted in the United States Army, where he received an Honorable Discharge. He also received an Associate Degree in Horticulture.
Douglas was known for his kindness and for his culinary skills. He could really cook, which led him to be employed in several restaurants.
He had an infectious smile and was a very gentle person. Douglas worked with the Security Team at Peace Baptist Church under Pastor Burrell.
Douglas became ill suddenly and was treated at University Hospital.
The Lord called him home, Sunday, March 26,2023
His mother, Mrs. Thelma Smith, father James Smith, Jr., and sister Mrs. Joan Smith- Lewis, all preceded him in death
He leaves to cherish his memories: four sisters , Mrs. LaGreta Smith-Roberts, Mrs. Karen Smith-Jones, Mrs. Belinda Smith-Williams, Chicago Illinois Ms. Angela Smith; two brothers, Mr. Ronald (Lynette) Smith and Mr. Gerald Smith; all Birmingham Alabama; two special cousins, Doyle Griggs and Aleta Johnson; a host of loving nieces and nephews, cousins,aunts, uncles and many friends.
