Donald Burr, Sr. was born July 8, 1950, in Birmingham, AL to the late Joe Lee and Corine Baker Burr. He confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of Bethel AME Church Ensley. He was educated in the Birmingham Public School System. After graduating from Western-Olin High School in 1968, he served in the United States Army from 1970 until 1981. He retired from Jim Walter Mine #4 in Brookwood, AL in 2009.
Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman. He departed this life on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at UAB hospital surrounded by family.
Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Joe Kenneth Burr, his grandson, Donarian Burr, and his nephew, Rodger Burr, II.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his children: Donald Jr. (Marsha) Burr, Lincoln, AL and Tamara (Alvin) Harrison, Birmingham, AL; a caring fiancé: Rosetta Swann; three sisters: Doris Turner, Birmingham, AL, Lottie Burr, Spartanburg, SC, Genneice Robinson, Birmingham, AL; two brothers: Rodger Burr and Derryl Burr, Birmingham, AL; six grandchildren: Tiffany Bloodworth, Donarius Burr, Avery Burr (Aaliyah), Arianna Burr, and Aniyah Burr; four great-grandchildren: TaMaya Jackson, Aeson Burr, Aven Burr, and Aurora Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
