Daniel Carr, Sr. Obituary

Daniel Carr Sr. was born
on April 22, 1929 in
Birmingham, Alabama to the
late Jeremiah and Annie Eliza
Carr; Daniel being the fourth
born of six sons and three
daughters, an inseparable
family of ten.
His early formal education
was received from Councill
Elementary School with
continuation of studies in
1944 at Parker Industrial High
School Graduating in 1948.
Daniel confessed to Christ as
an early age and was baptized
into the fellowship of
Pleasant View Baptist Church,
Ensley. During the phase of
his life, Daniel became more
involved pursuing and
receiving a more diverse level
of Christian education in
which he enrolled in the
Birmingham Baptist College.
The Carr’s purchased from
the land for the “New
Pleasant View MBC, Ensley,
for “one dollar”. Daniel
served as a Deacon for many
years. He often worshiped
with his children at
Macedonia Missionary Baptist
Church. “He preached and
said what he believed
regardless; being a man of
wisdom, generosity and
intelligence, doing God’s
work that was intended.
As he continued to expand,
he traveled to New York City
and there his ambition and
desire motivated a challenge
for him to join the United
States Marine Corps. Initially,
he was employed with the
first National Bank of West
End. Later promoted to the
Master Card/Credit Card
Division and Mail Delivery
Services with AmSouth.
Lastly, being pursuant in
becoming the owner and
manager of “Studio 98”.
While later Daniel was voted
as “Number One Bartender”
during the 60’s. He was
faithfully committed to
working with the less
fortunate in the community.
Daniel was joined in Holy
Matrimony to his forever
“Soulmate”, the love of his
life Creola Soles-Carr for 67
years. Within their union they
were blessed with three
adorable children, Venus,
Regina and Daniel Jr. (José)
Daniel molded for his
children the value of hard
work, education,
unconditional love, and the
importance of community
service. Without any
apprehension, education was
of utmost importance to him
in the motivation of his
children and grandchildren.
“He was a strong man with a
strong heart for the people”,
determined to make a
difference in their lives.
He completed his earthly
journey with a peaceful
transition on Wednesday,
August 4 th , at his residence
surrounded with the love of
his family.
Daniel was preceded in death
by his loving wife, Creola and
his grandson, Jackstin Hunter.
Survived by two daughters,
Venus Carr-Weaver (Thomas),
Regina Carr-Hope (James);
one son, Daniel Carr Jr.
(José’) all of Birmingham, AL;
two grandchildren, Melody
Brown and District Attorney
Danny Carr; two
greatgrandchildren, Dera Carr
and Jayla Fenison, one sister,
Juainita Fells, one brother
Fred Carr, a great-niece
Tiffany Robins and Jonathan
Spencer, Jr., a dependable
friend John Davis and a host
of relatives and friends.
