Cora Jean Carlisle was born on February 3, 1949, to the late Willie and Norma Carlisle (Nee, Wortham) in Mulga, Alabama. She was the fourth out of four children and the only girl.
Cora Jean, affectionately known as “Jean Baby” attended Westfield High School in Birmingham, Alabama. She graduated from Westfield in May 1968.
Jean Baby was a home body. When her brother Charley James moved back to Mulga from Detroit, Michigan, Jean was elated. She loved having her big brother Charley James back home.
Jean Baby was a long time member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, where she attended since childhood.
Jean was raised with a strong since of love for her family.
She is survived by: her three nephews, Nicholas Carlisle (Adrienne), Charley Carlisle (Melanie), and Terrell Carlisle; one niece, Tameca Carlisle; five great nephews, Xavier Perreault, Terrell Lefaive, Devin Carlisle, Logan Morris, and Kyren Nunn; three great nieces, Kayden Sneed, Celeste Carlisle and Dylan Carlisle, along with a host of cousins, and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone for their love and prayers, and extend special thanks to Minnie “Sapphire” Tartt-Murray for her unwavering love and support shown to Jean Baby and Charley James.
