Cheryl Angelis Conwell-Williams of Birmingham, Alabama, peacefully passed away on March 31, 2026. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister whose presence brought warmth and joy to all who knew her.
Cheryl was born to James C. Curry of Faunsdale, Alabama and Ruthie Mae Hale of Bessemer, Alabama. She was a proud graduate of West End High School, Class of 1977. Cheryl dedicated many years of service to The Birmingham News before later devoting her time to caring for her home and family as a homemaker.
She was known for her love of family, her joyful spirit, and the special moments she created with those closest to her. Cheryl enjoyed spending time with her loved ones, playing cards, and cherishing every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense happiness.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James C. Curry and Ruthie Mae Hale.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted husband, Harold Williams; her loving son, Ricardo (Takeba) Conwell; four grandchildren, Ricasha Conwell, Riana Conwell, Ricquel Conwell, and Ricardo Conwell Jr.; three great-grandchildren, Kingston, Michael, and MyCasha, whom she loved dearly; one sister, Sonja Hale; one brother, Amiri (Sandra) Curry; her nephews, DeAhvion, Aidan, Austin, Jairen, Jacin, Jevin, and Roderick Jones; one niece, Sharon Williams-Smith; her sisters-in-law, Geraldine (late Earl), Alice Faye (Jerry), Patricia, and Debra; one brother-in-law, Allen Ray; her special daughters, Kristina, Loretta, and MyKeshia; along with a host of extended family and friends.
Cheryl’s love, strength, and beautiful spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
