Mrs. Cecelia Wells Travis was born on September 8, 1930, to the union of Mr. & Mrs. Hudson and Mollie Wells in Marengo County, Alabama. She attended school there where she was the youngest of 6 children. She confessed Jesus at an early age. She went to Holy Family High School.
In 1949 Mr. Howard Eugene Travis and Ms. Cecelia Wells were united in marriage. To this union two children were born Michael Eugene Travis and Gail Lenore Travis. Mrs. Travis moved to New York where she lived five years of her life and moved back to Birmingham, Alabama. She became a member of Lilly Grove Baptist Church where she served in the matrons and bible study under Rev. Levi Sattisfield. Mrs. Travis also was a part of Believers of Voice Ministry under Cephas Jordan Jr. As she continued in the things of God, she found her forever home in the earth realm, More Than Conquerors Faith Church, Pastor Steve Green. Mrs. Travis is also known as “Granny T.” She is known for her sweet potato pie, lemon pound cake, peach cobbler, and her tasty food.
Mrs. Travis was preceded in death by her father, mother, her 3 brothers, 2 sisters, and her son. She leaves to cherish her memories one daughter Gail Welch; one grandson Korey Travis; one granddaughter Katrina Kidd; 3 great grandson Kaleb Bryant, Khryston Travis, and Korey Wilson; along with a host of cousins, relatives, friends, and family.
