Billie Ruth Thomson, 87, departed from us on November 20, 2020, surrounded by her family.
Billie Ruth was born July 2, 1933, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Ocie Lee and Irene Burt. She was preceded in death by her brothers Beverly Burt, William F. Burt, and Coolidge Burt; sons Kenneth and Glen Sheldon Thompson; grand daughters Mary Elizabeth Canada and Shakilra Warren; great-grandson Fredrick Thompson. Billie Ruth confessed Christ at an early age and later joined 23rd Street Missionary Baptist Church under the late Reverend Dr. Cecil J. McNear.
Billie Ruth was educated in the Birmingham City School System and went on to retire from the Birmingham Board of Education after years of dedicated service. She was an avid fan of the Wheel of Fortune and enjoyed watching Judge Judy.
Mrs. Billie Ruth Thompson is survived by her sons and their spouses Theodies (Monika) Thompson and Samuel Lee (Sharon; 1 daughter Charlotte Canada-Harris(Patrick); Daughter -in-Law Diane Thompson. 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, church family, friends, and special friends Mr. Russell Bonner and Mr. Robert and Cynthia Jones. Billie Ruth spent her remaining years in the company of three children.
