Bernice Marie Johnson was born on March 27, 1953 to the late Ira and Hattie Johnson of Gosport, Alabama. She was a loving sister and devoted friend. She departed this life on February 17, 2026. Bernice joined the Little Rock Baptist Church in Whatley, Alabama at an early age. She attended Clarke County High School of Grove Hill, Alabama where she graduated in 1971. She later attended Patrick Henry State Junior College of Monroeville, Alabama where she graduated with an Associate Degree. Bernice moved to Birmingham, Alabama where she united with Faith Chapel Church. She remained a citizen of Birmingham until death.
Bernice thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings and journeying home every year to the Little Rock Baptist Church Homecoming Services. Bernice became a born again Christian and was not ashamed to share her faith in Jesus with anyone. She had a love for embroidery and she was an amazing cook. Bernice was employed with University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) until retirement. She later took on a passion for sitting with the elderly. She fought the good fight of faith until Jesus called her home to be with him.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Hattie Johnson and eleven siblings. She leaves to cherish her memories: her brothers and sisters, Arther Lee (Josephine) Johnson, Ruthell Williams, Linda Johnson Patterson and John Arsbon Johnson; devoted nieces, Carolyn Johnson and Bobbie Bonner; nephews, Grady Johnson and George McClendon; a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
