Ms. Bernadette Herschall “Berna” Hill was born on June 19, 1982, in Fort Campbell, KY to Rosia Rucker Underwood and the late Paul Anthony Hill. She confessed her life to Christ at an early age and became a citizen of the Rock City Church, Birmingham, AL under the pastorate of Micheal McClure, Jr., where she remained until her heavenly transition.
Bernadette attended summer camps at Beacon Hill Preparatory School, Miami, FL, where she received numerous awards in academics and athletics. While attending Beacon Hill Preparatory School, she was afforded the incredible opportunity to see the late South African anti-apartheid crusaders, Mr. Nelson and Winnie Mandela, during their visit to the Miami Beach Convention Center in the early 1990s. She also attended Crumly Chapel Elementary, Birmingham, AL; Fort Campbell Elementary, Fort Campbell, KY; Ferguson-Easley Junior High, Fayetteville, NC; Bottenfield Junior High, Adamsville, AL; Hueytown High, Hueytown, AL; Minor High, Adamsville, AL; John Casablancas Modeling School, Raleigh, NC and Gadsden State Community College – Job Corps Center where she received her certification in Salon and Spa Management – Cosmetology Technology in 2006.
Bernadette won numerous awards as a member of the Fort Bragg, NC Barracudas USA Swim Team, competing in swim meets against a diverse group of experienced level swimmers. She also won numerous ribbons participating in track and field events. Bernadette’s natural gift for music was reflected in her ability to play the piano and violin at a very early age.
Bernadette had the sweetest smile and a GENEROUS heart. To know her, was to love her, due to her kind personality, laughter, wit, wisdom and love for life. Her heart was pure and she enjoyed the simple things in life, especially time spent with family and friends, who affectionately called her Berna, Bernie, Miss B and “Legs”.
Bernadette was granted her angel wings and peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home on Thursday, December 17, 2020. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Anthony Hill; grandmothers Mary Rucker and Frances Hill; grandfather L. C. Rucker; sister Angela Murray and nephew Kennis Rucker.

Pit Bull Terrier, also affectionately known as “Lil Girl”.
