Andrew Mushatt Jr., affectionately known by all as “Bodilley” entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, after a short battle with lung cancer. He was born on June 15, 1955, in Birmingham, Alabama, to the late Andrew Mushatt Sr. and Rosa Bell Jordan.
The eldest of seven children, Bodilley grew up in the close-knit Sherman Heights community, where he learned the values of hard work, loyalty, and neighborly love that would guide him throughout his life.
Bodilley accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at New Morning Star Baptist Church, where he developed a strong foundation of faith that remained with him through all of life’s seasons. His faith, paired with his commitment to helping others, made him a trusted friend and a steady presence in his community.
A man of many talents, Bodilley worked numerous trade jobs over the course of his life. Beyond his work, Bodilley was deeply devoted to his community—especially the Titusville neighborhood—where he volunteered with the neighborhood association. Bodilley served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in August 1973.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marian Mushatt; his parents, Andrew Sr. and Rosa Bell Mushatt; brothers Arnold and Anthony Mushatt; niece Shayla McLaughlin; and nephews John Mushatt and DeAndre Fair. He leaves to carry his memory forward three sisters, Carmen (Pierre) Johnson, Jacqueline (Walter) Brown, and Villetta Jones; one brother, Andre (Lillian) Mushatt; six grandchildren, Deja Thomas, Rashaad Taylor, Bryan Thomas Jr, Tyler Thomas, Courtney Thomas and Bryanna Williams; two stepchildren, Corey Thomas and Bryan Thomas; one special cousin, Henriette Easte; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and dear friends.
