Allen Whitehead, Jr., also known as “Spot” to many, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, September 26, 2024. He was born in 1943 in Fairfield, Alabama, to Allen Whitehead, Sr., and Lucinda "Lucille" Bray. Allen was a man of few words, but he spoke louder with his actions. Whether lending a helping hand, opening a door for you or for offering a reassuring head nod, Allen will surely be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by seven of his siblings including twin sisters, Eloise Nixon and Louise Pettway; sister Betty Knox and nephew, Shedrick Willie Knox, Jr.
At an early age, Allen dedicated his life to the Lord and attended First Baptist Fairfield. He graduated from Fairfield Industrial High School and continued to work as a laborer during his lifetime. After moving to Pratt City, he joined St. James A.M.E. Church along with his sister, Betty Knox.
Allen lived most of his life with his sister, Betty Knox, who preceded him in death just eight months prior. She spent most of her life caring for him through health issues just as an older sister would. Allen’s family and loved ones are most grateful for his time spent on Earth and find peace in knowing all the siblings are now reunited in their heavenly home.
Allen is survived by his four nieces, Cassandra Moultrie, Roxann Knox, Anita Perry and Stephanie Knox; six great nieces and nephews, Reginald Moore, Henry Moultrie, Brittney Knox-Mensah, Michael Moore, Christina Moultrie, and Brianna Knox; and other nieces, nephews, great-grand nieces and nephews, and a host of other loved ones.
